welcome to ”never let go…”
Never Let Go is a colorful, nature inspired, remaking, transforming and repairing story hand written with needle and thread on old items and recovered materials that encourages the wearer to stay aware of all the wonders in this world we call home.
HI!
I’m Cristina.
I have a passion for making things with my own hands, and giving them second, third, fourth… chances, and also passing on these skills and playfulness to adults and kids, thru in person workshops.
I find the making process to be the most handy and natural form of meditation and wish as many as possible to enjoy it and integrate it into their lives. I, when an old garment or material falls into my hand, often find myself lost in the flow, with a big smile on my face and a full heart.
There is no clear line between my work and free time, I live what I do. And I do it in my small home studio, in creative spaces in the city or in nature, on a forest path, a water’s edge, in a hammock in the park, alone or in company.
You can stay in touch with me by joining NVRLG mailing list, or e-mail cristina [at] nvrlg [dot] com.
Love and joy,
XOXO
NVRLG is my humble footprint on this world. Born from a love of creating and fascination for turning ideas and “trash” into something that I can hold in my hands, these are little pieces of my soul to bring joy into people’s lives and sweet reminders that this life on this planet is all we have for the moment.
It all started more than a decade ago, with giving second lives to damaged pieces in my wardrobe because throwing them away was not an option for me. At that time I didn’t have the overall picture of the global damages of fast consumption, but had in me the legacy of my grandparents’ everyday gestures of repairing everything broken and transforming any piece of so-called “nothing” into new functional objects (my “what” and “why” here).
All I make in here is one-of-a-kind, bright colored, upcycled, nature inspired and made to last the whims of trends and the wear and tear of time. I work in stages and according to what my soul asks for. I locally collect preloved items or manufacturing leftover materials, clean them, sort by colors, save all I can (fabric, zippers, buttons, thread), draw the patterns, cut, sew, hand embroider, create the branding, pack the pieces, put my soul in each and every piece I make and send my darlings to new homes.
And hope, really hope, that each piece I make will find its place in its best home; because, as I always say, people don’t need many things to live, but things, once made, need their right people to give them a meaning.
